40th Retreat Day Three- Part Two

Friday, November 25th
12.45pm - Off to Flinders we go. All dressed up and we know exactly where we are heading- the Op Shop (it's a good one we remember from last time we were here) and Tree (it's a good one too) and there's another shop we can't remember the name of.

It's a gorgeous drive through rolling hills with an ocean view as we chat, listen to some music and enjoy the wind in our hair, though it is a bit chilly today. We arrive and see lovely colourful sarongs billowing in the breeze.

We stroll past these, dum de dum and head to the 'oppy' that is C-L-O-S-E-D  on a Friday. 'CLOSED' I say hmmm. There's a cute basket left out front and on the shelf in the front window a cool glass jar with a green glass clip lid that would've been great in the bathroom! Not this time baby! Nevermind, lots to see.

Across the road is Plum. A french inspired shoppe with lovely ceramics, provincial homewares and cute cards of which I bought 2 to put in frames.

Next is Tree. This shop is dressed so beautifully. Everything is displayed according to colour so is very pleasing to the eye. Turquoise, pale pink, sky blue, lilac, lemon, naturals- it's really gorgeous. We wander for a while touching, smelling, looking and chatting to the lovely lady behind the counter who directs us to a market in Merricks. We had planned to go to a Studio Market after Flinders so are happy to pop another one in for the day until after more chatting we realise it's the same one!! Hee hee.

2.00pm - We were really hungry now and had not packed provisions and quite purposely so as the flyer for the market said 'Great Food' and I think you can count on a country market to have great food when it says it has 'great food'. I am actually excited by going to a market because of the 'great food'. TBC

Autumnal Crochet Bunting

The seasons are definately changing. The leaves on the liquid amber are already starting to change in patches, the sky is grey, the floor is cold and we saw mushrooms sprouting on the side of the road on the way home from school. Brrr, the cold is coming. But......... inside it's warming up with Autumnal Crochet Bunting on the Celebration Table. And, I love the word 'Autumnal'. I'll use any opportunity to pop it into a conversation.

So here's the Autumnal bunting strung up in the tree on our Celebration Table. It's made from the Rowan Cotton Glace I found in the op shop in Mornington that happened to be just the right Autumnal colours. Rich orange, burnt red and deep purple with a mossy green to bring them together. I wasn't sure whether to embroider 'AUTUMN' on it but I really wanted to so, I did! I like the little buttons too.

The Celebration Table is a place where we celebrate the seasons and somewhere to share our treasures we gather over the coming months. We just fairwelled our Summer table over the week end and are looking forward to what our Autumn table will become. Needs more colour and texture I think.

We made autumn leaves from paper and took off the outer layer of our 'seasonal tree' you can see to the right. We also had a little pile of acorns we'd collected on our school walks however, Little 1 kept eating them so they had to go. We have to be careful now what goes on the table as she can easily reach. In fact the whole thing may have to move, well see!!

Now the bunting was inspired by my favourite gal Lucy over in Attic 24 where you can see her colourful mini bunting right here and also by this pattern at Pink Milk . A combination of the 2 has lead to this and I want more.......lots more!!! It was so quick and easy that there is absolutely no excuse not to have mini bunting everywhere! Although right now I am having a go at crocheting Little 1 some snuggly wooly slippers and the more time I spend blogging, the less time I have to crochet.

I really need to wriggle on with our 40th posts Em. I'm up to Day 3, Part 2. I'll request some time from Mr Le over this long week end to loose myself in blog land. Ok, time for some hooky happiness to create slippers all snuggied under the doona. I might only last 5 minutes before my eyes close!!!

By the way, check out the biggest tomato we have ever harvested, what joy!!

Little Autumn Treasures....

Inspired by the season, l have just finished creating some little wooden dolls.  They are now adorning the shelves at Epoche simply waiting for a child's imagination....

Love the bowls Le, they are addictive, aren't they?  Hmm, the crochet artist whose scarves, bags and necklaces we were enchanted by was Sophie Digard...absolutely exquisite designs!
